STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford's national champion gymnast Carly Janiga was awarded a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, adding to her legacy of excellence both in the gym and the classroom.
Janiga, who recently led the Cardinal to fourth-place at the NCAA Championships and earned three more first-team All-America honors, will receive a one-time grant of $7,500, which she will use to help finance her graduate work in Stanford's Teacher Education program.
The NCAA awards up to 174 postgraduate scholarships annually, 87 for men and 87 for women. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.
Janiga finished her collegiate career with nine All-America honors, three NCAA Super Six team finals appearances and an NCAA individual title on the uneven bars.
