Eight Former Pac-10 Players and One Coach Named to College World Series Legends Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Eight former Pac-10 baseball players and former legendary coach Rod Dedeaux of USC, were all named to the College World Series Legends Team announced today by the NCAA and CWS, Inc. Among the players selected were current and former Major League Baseball players, including ARIZONA’s Terry Francona; ARIZONA STATE’s Sal Bando, Eddie Bane, Barry Bonds and Bon Horner; OREGON STATE’s Darwin Barney; STANFORD’s Ryan Garko and USC’s Fred Lynn
The 28 members of the Legends Team were selected from an original list of 95 nominees voted on by college baseball fans, college baseball writes and Division I head baseball coaches. These former student-athletes and coaches will forever be linked to the best CWS performances throughout the 60 years the event has been played at Rosenblatt Stadium, which will host the NCAA College World Series for the last time this June.
The team was solely compiled on the performances of the former student-athletes at the CWS.Any regular season or post-collegiate performances were not included in the voting process.
The 28 CWS Legends Team members will be invited to attend the final College World Series at Rosenblatt Stadium as guests of the NCAA. The members will be formally honored on the field during the CWS Opening Ceremonies on June 18. The team will also be invited to attend the first day of CWS competition on June 19.
