Arredondo Earns Academic All-District

Arizona senior shortstop K'Lee Arredondo was named a first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 member this week.

Arredondo, from Tempe, Ariz., will graduate in May with a degree in psychology. She carries a cumulative 3.44 grade point average. She earned the All-District honor for the second consecutive year and will be placed on the ballot for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America award, as voted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The awards go to scholar-athletes who perform on the field and in the classroom. Arredondo has started 214 games at Arizona, as a freshman outfielder and three-year shortstop. She carries a .369 batting average and leads the team with 51 runs scored this season.

Arredondo,who turns 22 later this month, is a two-time first-team Pac-10 All-Academic winner and earned All-District VIII honors last year as a junior.

Arredondo and fellow seniors Sarah Akamine and Ashley Ralston-Alvarez will be recognized next Saturday at UA's Senior Day ceremony following the UCLA-Arizona regular season finale.
