Pac-10 Multi-Evnets Kick Off Pac-10 Track and Field Championships

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- The multi-events portion of the Pac-10 Track and Field Championships will get underway this weekend in Berkeley, Calif., at Edwards Stadium on the campus of the University of California. Competition starts at 11 a.m. on both days, and admission is free.
Defending his Pac-10 decathlon title for the second time will be OREGON senior Ashton Eaton, who scored 8,091 points at last year’s Pac-10 Championships. Eaton is a two-time NCAA decathlon champion, having posted 8,241 points in claiming last season’s title. He also added an NCAA indoor title in the heptathlon last March with a world record 6,499-point performance.
On the women’s side, Oregon junior Brianne Theisen captured last season’s Pac-10 heptathlon title with 5,986 points and went on to claim the NCAA title as well with 6,086 points.

The entire 2010 Pac-10 Track and Field Championships will take place on the University of California campus at Edwards Stadium Saturday-Sunday, May 15-16. Reserved and general admission tickets are available online at www.calbears.com/tickets/tickets-c-track.html. Tickets also will be available at the Ticket Kiosk at Edward’s Stadium, opening 90 minutes prior to the start of competition.
