Cats Lose Heartbreaker in 11 Innings
May 8, 2010
EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon's Neena Bryant hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to lead the No. 22 Ducks to a 2-1 win over third-ranked Arizona on Saturday.
The blast, Bryant's seventh of the season, followed a leadoff walk and spoiled the jubilation in the Arizona (41-9, 11-6 Pac-10) dugout, who had taken the lead in the top half on Lini Koria's 14th round-tripper.
Freshman hurlers Jessica Moore (13), of Oregon, and UA's Kenzie Fowler (10) combined for 23 strikeouts in the pitchers' duel.
Fowler allowed just four hits to Moore's nine, but the Cats stranded 11 runners.
Moore improved to 14-9 and upped her team's record to 33-15 and 8-9 in league play. Fowler dropped to 30-6 on the season.
The series finale is tomorrow at 11 a.m.
