No. 2 Women's Golf Qualifies for 19th Consecutive NCAA Championship

COLUMBUS, Ind. - The No. 2 Arizona State women's golf team qualified for its 19th consecutive NCAA Championship after finishing second at the NCAA Central Regional. The Sun Devils own the longest active streak of NCAA Championship appearances and are now tied with Stanford for the longest consecutive trips to the NCAA Championship. Stanford ended its streak at 19 after missing the cut at last season's regional. The Sun Devils shot 51-over 915 (297-310-308) to finish eight shots behind USC. Along with the Sun Devils and the Trojans, Purdue, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Florida State, Oregon and Kent State have earned a trip to the NCAA Championships.
Two Sun Devils finished in the top 10. Juliana Murcia carded 11-over 227 (71-79-77) to place seventh. This is her sixth top 10 finish of the season. Carlota Ciganda earned her seventh top 10 finish this year after placing eighth with a 12-over 228 (76-77-75).
Jennifer Johnson and Jaclyn Sweeney each finished tied for 12th at 14-over 230. Johnson has now had seven top 20 placings while this marks Sweeney's sixth time in the top 20. Giulia Molinaro finished 23-over 239 (80-80-79).
The Sun Devils will head to Wilmington, N.C., to defend their NCAA Championship. The tournament runs May 18-21.
