Bears Sweep Cardinal
Top-ranked Cal won all four races against then-sixth-ranked Stanford and regained the Lambert Cup by claiming the varsity 8+ event last Saturday morning at Redwood Shores. The Bears' varsity 8+ finished almost four seconds ahead of the Cardinal's top boat (6:20.7-6:24.0). The Cal women raced as 'Team Jill' in support of teammate Jill Costello, who has been battling stage IV lung cancer since last June.

Last Year's Pac-10 Championships
Cal won the overall team title at the 2009 Pac-10 Championships, capturing the second varsity 8+ and varsity 4+ titles and finishing second in both the varsity 8+ and novice 8+ grand finals to collect 70.5 points.

Cal's History at the Pac-10 Championships
With last season's championship, Cal has now won five of the last six Pac-10 Championships and the last two straight (2008 and 2009). Their 2004 title was the first since winning their first-ever conference title in 1994 as part of a combined competition with the men. The varsity 8+ boat has won nine Pac-10 titles and five since 2004 (2004-08).

In the Rankings
Cal held on to its No. 1 national ranking in this week's USRowing Coaches poll. Among the Pac-10 foes in the Top-20 poll are No. 5 Stanford, No. 7 Washington, No. 8 USC, No. 11 Washington State and No. 12 UCLA.
