Softball Loses Season Finale to No. 12 California

Berkeley, Calif. – The Oregon State softball team (24-30, 4-17) collected six hits but fell 11-3 in five innings to the No. 12 California Golden Bears (41-17, 10-11) in the season finale at Levine-Fricke Field on Saturday afternoon.


The Beavers started off the third trailing 9-0 but put three runs on the board behind four hits and two Cal errors. Freshman Lea Cavestany (Pittsburg, Calif.) hit a RBI double to left center to earn her 33rd RBI of the season.


Oregon State tallied another hit in the fourth from freshman Maggie Doremus (San Diego, Calif.) but the Beavers were unable to score again with Cal scoring two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-RBI single by Lindsey Ziegenhirt.


Freshman Marina Demore (Vancouver, British Columbia) was the losing pitcher, falling to 2-4 on the season. California’s Jolene Henderson earned the win to improve to 18-9.
