James Wise Named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State University junior right-hander James Wise has been named Pacific-10 Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for May 10-16, Commissioner Larry Scott announced, Monday.

Wise pitched eight shutout innings to lead Washington State to a 4-2 victory at then-No. 25 Stanford, May 15. The eight innings were a career high for Wise as were his eight strikeouts. The Boise, Idaho native allowed four hits, walked one and allowed just two base runners beyond first base.

This is the second Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honor this season for the Cougars, the first for Wise, and the 32nd all-time for Washington State. Chad Arnold won the award, April 26.
