May 19, 2010

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior Megan Langenfeld was named Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Year on Wednesday, becoming the 12th Bruin to earn POY honors. In addition, 10 Bruins were honored on the All-Pac-10 and All-Freshman Teams.

Langenfeld joins three-time winners Lisa Longaker (`87, `88, `90), Lisa Fernandez (`91-'93) and Stacey Nuveman (`99, `01, `02), as well as Natasha Watley (`03) and Andrea Duran (`06), as Pac-10 Player of the Year honorees. It is the fourth All-Pac-10 honor and second first-team accolade for Langenfeld, who was also named first team a year ago.

Joining Langenfeld on the All-Pac-10 First Team were junior GiOnna DiSalvatore and sophomore Andrea Harrison. DiSalvatore has been named All-Pac-10 three times, but this is her initial first-team award. Harrison was named to the honorable mention team a year ago.

Senior Julie Burney was named to the All-Pac-10 Second Team, while senior Kaila Shull, juniors Monica Harrison and Donna Kerr and sophomore Dani Yudin were all named to the All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention Team. The award is the third of Shull's career, the second for Burney, Harrison and Kerr and the first for Yudin.

B.B. Bates was recognized on the All-Freshman Team, while Charlotte Dolan was named to the All-Freshman Honorable Mention Team.

The three first-team honors for the Bruins were tied for the most in the conference along with Arizona and Washington. The eight all-conference nods were tied for the second most behind Washington.
