BOULDER - The University of Colorado women's soccer game against Oklahoma State, originally scheduled on October 15, has been changed to October 14 due to the game being televised on the Fox Soccer Channel. The game will now begin at 6 p.m.
"This is a great opportunity to show off our program on a national level," soccer coach Bill Hempen said. "Being on the Fox Soccer Channel is one of those opportunities you don't pass up, whether home or away."
The Fox Soccer Channel is available through Comcast, Dish Network and DirecTV. Contact your local service provider for more details and to ensure you have the correct viewing package.
The Buffs have seen action on TV for the past five seasons, but it's usually on their home turf at Prentup Field. CU's deal with Fox Sports Rocky Mountain calls for at least one soccer home game to hit the regional airwaves each year. The matchup against OSU in 2010 will mark the first regular season game for the Buffs to be televised on the national stage. The Buffs have only experienced a national live broadcast one other time throughout its program's history, which was during the Big 12 Tournament championship game when they fell to Missouri 1-0. FSN produced and aired this game.
"I know that the Athletic Department at Oklahoma State and their head coach Colin Carmichael worked hard to make this happen," Hempen said. "We have had fantastic games before with OSU on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain and we hope to provide in this match a game that occupies time on your DVR for a long time."
Seniors Amanda Foulk, Mel Hicks, Kim Lowry, Kelly Ross and Taryn Vitacca return to lead the team during the 2010 season. The Buffs kick off their season at home with an exhibition game against the Air Force Academy on August 15 at 1 p.m. They will start regular season play on August 22 starting at 1 p.m. against Wyoming.
Colorado will host Denver along with 2009 Women's College Cup participants Purdue and UCLA during the ninth annual Colorado Soccer Classic September 17-19 in Boulder.
Parking and admission are free to all home soccer games at Prentup Field. Buff fans can also become part of the Prentup Pass campaign, which guarantees premium seating, a CU t-shirt and an autographed team poster for $50 or for $100 fans can get all of the above plus a parking spot held until kickoff which is part of the Prentup Pass Gold Campaign. Both packages will go on sale starting in July.
