TUCSON - Julie Labonte and Taylor Bush set new personal records and the UA track and field team wrapped up its last home meet of the season Saturday at the Tucson Elite Throwers Classic.

Bush set her new best of 55.56m (182-2) in the first event of the day in the hammer throw.  Bush will be one of 31 athletes heading to Austin, Texas next week for the West Preliminary of the NCAA Championships and has been throwing consistantly well all season.

Labonte didn't beat her record by much, but any personal best is notable and there is no better time to be throwing strongly than at this point of the season.  Labonte's mark of 16.83m (55-2 3/4) increases her third best mark in school history and was good for second place against some truly elite throwers at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

Those elite throwers certainly shined Saturday as three Drachman Stadium records were felled throughout the day.

Britney Henry, competing unattached, opened the record-setting day by winning the hammer throw with a mark of 71.27m (233-10) that bested the mark that New York Athletic Club's Loree Smith set at the meet last year by about two feet.

Two others marks were taken down at nearly identical times later on in the evening as Asics' Kara Patterson topped the stadium record she had set just two days earlier in the javelin throw on her very first attempt with a mark of 61.75m (202-7).

Literally moments after, Cory Martin let loose a bomb in the men's shot put that measured 22.10m (72-6 1/4) to take down Dan Taylor's record set last year.
