Stanford In Action On Opening Day Of NCAA Singles, Doubles

ATHENS, Ga.- The opening day of the 2010 NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Singles Championships featured three Stanford players in action, with each advancing easily into the second round.

The lone participant in the men's draw, Bradley Klahn had little trouble putting away SMU's Artem Baradach 6-3, 6-2 and will face Tennessee's Boris Conkic in Thursday's round of 32 at 9:30 a.m. PT.

Over on the women's side, Hilary Barte and Mallory Burdette are also both through to the second round.

Barte coasted past Marshall's Michaela Kissell 6-3, 6-1 and will match up with Denver's Ute Schnoy on Thursday at 9 a.m. PT.

Meanwhile, Burdette easily dispatched Alabama's Alexa Guarachi 6-1, 6-3 and squares off against Miami's Laura Vallverdu at 9 a.m. PT on Thursday.

The doubles competition also gets underway tomorrow.
