Zerbini Falls in Opening Round of NCAA Singles Championship

ATHENS, Ga. - No. 18-ranked California men's tennis junior Pedro Zerbini ended his first appearance in the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Singles Championship on Wednesday (May 26), as he fell to top-seeded and No. 2-ranked Henrique Cunha of Duke in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of host University of Georgia.
The third-year Golden Bear completes his season with a 19-7 singles record including a 14-4 mark in dual matches. He will now turn his attention to the doubles championship where he will be making his second appearance in the draw after advancing to the round of 16 a year ago with partner Geoff Chizever.
This time, Zerbini and fellow junior Jonathan Dahan form the No. 30-ranked doubles team in the country. The pair will take on South Carolina's 25th-ranked duo of Pedro Campos and Diego Cubas in the first round of the doubles championship on Thursday (May 27) at 2:30 p.m. ET.
