Rowe & Women's 4x400m Relay Qualify For NCAA Championships

May 29, 2010

Lindsay Rowe and the 4x400m relay team reserved their spots at the NCAA Outdoor Championships as both were automatic qualifiers out of their heats on the final day of competition at the Pre-National Meet in Austin, TX.

Rowe finished second with a time of 13.26, just .02 seconds shy of her lifetime-best set two weeks ago at Pac-10s (13.24). Her time was the sixth-fastest out of all three heats. This will be Rowe's third appearance at the NCAA Outdoor meet.

The 4x400m relay team of Joy Eaton, Krishna Curry, Briana Barlow and Ashlea McLaughlin finished third in heat two to automatically qualify to Nationals. Their time of 3:34.08 was a season-best (old best 3:34.82) and was eighth overall

The women's 4x400m relay was without Turquoise Thompson due to a hamstring injury she suffered on Friday in the quarterfinal of the 400m hurdles. Barlow took Thompson's place in the relay.

Rowe and the relay join Katy Viuf (pole vault) and Tori Pena (pole vault) as UCLA's representatives at the Outdoor Championships, held June 9-12 in Eugene, OR.

Shannon Murakami finished 38th in the 5000m (17:42.74) and does not advance to NCAAs.

Sophomore Ke'Nyia Richardson tied for 29th in the triple jump with a mark of 40-8.75 and does not advance to the NCAA Championships. In the high jump, freshman Mariah Gibson no-heighted.
