Four Bruins Qualify for 65th U.S. Women's Open

Current UCLA sophomore Stephanie Kono will join three Bruin professionals at the 65th U.S. Women's Open at Oakmont, PA, July 8-11.
Kono finished fourth on Tuesday at the Industry Hills sectional qualifying event. She posted rounds of 72-70--142 (-2). Former Bruin letterwinners Guilia Sergas and Charlotte Mayorkas also qualified out of the same venue. Sergas finished first with rounds of 70-68--138 (-6) and Mayorkas was seventh at 144 (E), following rounds of 69-75. UCLA redshirt freshman Lee Lopez was the second alternate.
On Saturday, May 30, former UCLA all-American Mariajo Uribe lost in a six-hole playoff to Meaghan Franchella at the LPGA Brasil Cup tournament in Rio de Janeiro. Both players had tied at six-under par following 36 holes of competition.
In other news, GolfWeek announced its 2010 Women's Collegiate All-America Team and four of UCLA's five starters were on it. Kono earned first-team honors, Michaels was on the second team, freshman Tiffany Lua was a third-team selection and sophomore Brianna Do earned honorable mention honors.
