WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Six members of the Washington baseball team earned All-Pac-10 honorable mention, the Conference office announced today. Chase Anselment, David Bentrott, Doug Cherry, Jacob Clem, Jacob Lamb and Pierce Rankin were all honored.

Arizona State won three of the Conference's major awards as Zach MacPhee was named Player of the Year, Seth Blair earned Pitcher of the Year and Tim Esmay was named Coach of the Year. Additionally, Cal's Brian Guinn picked up the Defensive Player of the Year award and Stanford's Kenny Diekroeger was selected as the Freshman of the Year.

Anselment, a freshman from Edmonds, played mostly designated hitter this season for Washington, but also spent a little time in right field and at catcher. He hit .347 in his first college season, with six homers and 28 runs batted in.

The Huskies' starting shortstop, Bentrott posted a .299 average and eight doubles in his 53 games. The Maple Valley native started 52 of 56 at shortstop.

Cherry, a senior from Redmond, had his finest season, hitting .340 with 14 doubles while making only seven errors as the Huskies' second baseman.

Clem, a junior relief pitcher from Burlington, made 30 appearances on the mound, all out of the bullpen. He went 4-4 with a team-best 3.70 earned run average and six saves. He gave up just 52 hits and 19 walks while striking out 49 in 65 and two-thirds innings.

Another freshman, Jacob Lamb, also batted .347. The third baseman from Seattle started 54 of 56 games and shared the team lead with 14 doubles.

Rankin, a junior from Lake Forest Park, split his time nearly evenly between catcher and the outfield. He was the team's top slugger, leading the team with 10 homers and 40 runs batted in.
