Roth, Swarthout Named Academic All-District

NEW ORLEANS - Husky juniors Scott Roth and Jordan Swarthout have each been recognized for their academic prowess as they were both named to the USTFCCCA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 team. Roth and Swarthout each qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary meet in Austin, Texas last weekend.

The two were both voted to the All-District 8 Second Team. Roth, the NCAA Indoor Champion in the pole vault, is heading on to Eugene, Oregon this coming week for the NCAA Outdoor Championships where he is seeded third overall. A four-time All-American, Roth carries a cumulative grade point average of 3.32 while majoring in biology.

Swarthout owns a 3.88 grade point average while majoring in international relations. The distance standout qualified for his first Regional meet this year in the 10,000-meters, with a season-best time of 29:27.88. Swarthout has been named to the Pac-10 All-Academic First Team for cross country or track on three occasions.
