Ashley Walker Signs With Tulsa Shock
June 7, 2010
Former California Golden Bear women's basketball player Ashley Walker has signed a contract with the WNBA's Tulsa Shock.
Walker began the season with the Seattle Storm, the team she was drafted by and played for during the 2009 season. Walker, along with former Cal teammate Devanei Hampton, participated in preseason games in Seattle before both were released by the club prior to opening day. Former Cal player Alexis Gray-Lawson participated in the preseason with the Washington Mystics. She was also released prior to opening day.
Walker played in 13 games last season for the Storm, averaging 6.9 minutes in each appearance. She has already made two appearances for the Shock since signing last week.
The Tulsa Shock relocated to Tulsa, Okla. after operating for 12 seasons in Michigan as the Detroit Shock. The team is coached by Nolan Richardson, the former head NCAA Men's Basketball coach who won a National Championship in 1994 when coaching at the University of Arkansas.
