Trojans Earn ITA All-American Honors

Outstanding 2010 efforts by Robert Farah, Steve Johnson and Maria Sanchez have netted the USC tennis trio ITA All-American honors as well as top-10 national rankings, as announced today by the ITA.

The USC men's tennis team finished 2010 at the top for the second straight season as back-to-back NCAA Team Champions. Senior Robert Farah has closed down his USC career as the No. 1 ranked singles player in the nation, just ahead of No. 9 Steve Johnson. Together, the pair finishes 2010 ranked No. 2 in the nation in doubles. Farah reached the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals, where he had to retire from his match due to injury, wrapping up the three-time All-American's senior season with a 38-6 overall singles record to finish his career 126-35 overall in singles.

Johnson picks up his second straight season of All-American honors, as the sophomore was the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Singles Tournament before injuries also caught up with him and he would finish 29-5 overall in singles this season. As a powerful doubles duo, Farah/Johnson are again All-Americans in doubles, as the pair went 31-5 overall together this season in reaching the NCAA Doubles Quarterfinals.

The USC women wind down the year at No. 20, led by newly crown All-American junior Maria Sanchez, who ranks as the nation's No. 5 women's singles player. Sanchez powered her way to the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals this year, finishing the year with a team-leading win count for a 29-9 overall singles record en route to her first ITA All-America selection.

A player must meet any of the following criteria to earn ITA All-America honors:
1) Top 16 seed in NCAA Singles Championships, or;
2) Reach round of 16 in NCAA Singles Championships, or;
3) Finish in the Top 20 of the final ITA Rankings.
1) Top eight seed in NCAA Doubles Championships, or;
2) Reach quarterfinals of NCAA Doubles Championship, or;
3) Finish in Top 10 of final ITA Rankings
