EUGENE, ORE. - The USC men's and women's track and field team has nine males and seven females that individually qualified in events as well as four relay teams that will be competing June 9-12 at the 2010 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Oregon at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. USC had enjoyed much success at Heyward Field as the men's teams won the 2000 and 2006 Pac-10 crowns and the 2005 and 2007 NCAA West titles here. Also, the USC women's team won its only NCAA track and field championship in 2001 in Eugene.

TELEVISION COVERAGE - CBS will air the finals on June 12 live from 10 a.m. - Noon (PT), while CBS College Sports will broadcast live on June 11 from 5-7 p.m. (PT) and will stream the rest of the NCAA Track and Field Championships online.

USC AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS - Last season the USC men's team placed 10th and the women's team eighth at the NCAA Championships hosted by Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. USC is the only program in the country that has had both the men's and women's team finish in the top 11 in the country in each of the last five seasons. USC's men's team has had a top 10 finish the last five seasons and in 13 of the last 16. They also have won more team titles than anyone with 26, the last coming in 1976. The women's team won the NCAA title in 2001 and has finished in the top 10 in four of the past five seasons (11th in 2008) and have had five top five finishes in the last 12 seasons. In nine of the last 11 seasons (except 2004 & 2009) USC has had at least one athlete win an individual NCAA title (19 total, plus one relay). USC men have won 114 individual titles, while the Trojan women have won 15 individual outdoor championships.

NCAA PRELIMINARY ROUND RESULTS - USC had a solid showing at the first NCAA West Preliminary Rounds hosted by Texas in Austin, Texas from May 27-29. Sixteen individuals and four relay teams finished among the top 12 in events to qualify for the NCAA Championship semifinal rounds. It wasn't a perfect meet for the Trojans, however, as several top-20 ranked individuals did not make it out of the new regional meets: Cooper Thompson (2nd - men's javelin), Kristine Busa (4th - women's javelin), Lauren Chambers (10th - hammer), Bryshon Nellum (16th - 400m), Brendan Ames (18th - long jump, 19th - 110m HH - injury). However, several Trojans that entered the Preliminary Rounds outside of the top 20 stepped up and advanced: Marissa Minderler (31st - hammer), Elizabeth Olear (43rd - 400m), Ekene Anene (72nd - triple jump).
