Wednesday, 4 p.m. Pacific - The NCAA Outdoor Championships are underway at a damp Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Clouds of all shapes and shades of gray are speeding by overhead and the rain has been on and off early this afternoon. Right now the men's discus is on the field and the women's heptathlon is between the high jump and the shot put. The men's 4x100-meter relay semifinals are coming up shortly.

But nevermind all that, when do the Huskies compete and how can you watch them? Well there are only two Huskies in action today running the shortest and longest events on the track. Freshman James Alaka will compete in the 100-meter dash semifinals at 5:45 p.m. this afternoon, and he is in the second of three heats. The night concludes with senior Anita Campbell in her Husky finale, as she runs in the final of the 10,000-meters, scheduled to start at 10:15 p.m.

This NCAA streaming page does a great job of sorting out the variety of live streaming options available. It's also up at the top of this page. The 'Main Feed' is the one that will show the running events including Alaka and Campbell.

As you wait for Alaka to kick things off, here are a couple links to some preview stories.

Washington has been holed up in the Eugene Hilton, their usual place of residence for all visits to Eugene for track or cross country meets. If anyone happened to be heading to Eugene for a peaceful week's vacation, they'll feel very out of place walking around the hotel lobby, as the Hilton has a ton of teams on hand. Spotted on the elevators thus far is Florida State, Texas, Louisville, Villanova, North Carolina, and Yale.
