Gymnasts honored by Giants

SAN FRANCISCO - The Stanford women's gymnastics team joined advocacy groups at Team Up for Girls Day before a San Francisco Giants game at AT&T Park.
Coach Kristen Smyth, associate head coach Chris Swircek, volunteer assistant Lindsay Wing, and gymnasts Alyssa Brown, Nicole Dayton, Danielle Ikoma, Ashley Morgan, and Alexandra Skoly represented the Cardinal on Sunday before the Giants' 6-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics.
Stanford joined the Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative and Team Up for Youth, who organized the event.
The festivities included a pre-game panel discussion with celebrity dads and their accomplished daughters. The panel included Dave Righetti and daughters Natalee and Nicolette, Duane Kuiper and daughter Dannon, Mike Krukow and daughter Tess and former 49er Brent Jones and daughter Courtney.
The discussion focused on how each of these fathers encouraged their daughters to pursue their dreams. The panel was introduced by Renel Brooks-Moon and moderated by Anne Warner Cribbs.
