Oregon State's Velasquez Named Pac-10 Men's Golfer of the Month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Diego Velasquez of Oregon State has been named Pacific-10 Conference Golfer of the Month for May/June 2010.

Velasquez, a senior from Bogota, Colombia, finished fourth at the NCAA Championships, the highest finish among Pac-10 individuals. Velasquez led the Beavers to their first NCAA Championships appearance since 2001 and his fourth-place finish in the event is the highest in OSU history. At the NCAA Championships, Velasquez fired a seven-under-par 71-72-66=209, with his final-round 66 tying the competition course record at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn. It marks the second Pac-10 golfer of the month honor this year for Velasquez, as he also was honored after winning the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in October.
