June 20, 2010

Three UCLA players will tee it up this week at the 34th U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks Championship at The Warren Golf Course at the University of Notre Dame, June 21-26.

Sophomores Brianna Do and Stephanie Kono will join freshman Tiffany Lua for 36 holes of stroke play on the first two days. The top 64 players advance to the match play bracket which culminates in a 36-hole final on June 26.

All three are veteran USGA competitors. Kono and Lua played on the victorious U.S. Curtis Cup team earlier this month and each has played in several other USGA sponsored championships.

Last summer Kono advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur and the Round of 16 at the USWAPL.

Lua has played in several U.S. Women's Amateur tournaments, including a semifinal appearance last year. She has also participated in three U.S. Women's Opens.

Do will be making her third USWAPL appearance. Her best result was a second round appearance in 2008.
