Silverstein Joins Women's Golf Staff
June 21, 2010
Silverstein, an Arizona letterman from 2005-09, begins his full-time coaching career at his alma mater. He previously spent the 2009-10 season as a volunteer assistant with the UA men's team, helping the squad post four top-five finishes and earn an NCAA West Regional berth. After graduating in May 2009 with a degree in regional development and a minor in business, he was employed by the I.R.I. Golf Group.
'To continue my coaching career with the University of Arizona women is a wonderful opportunity,' said Silverstein. 'The UA women have long been one of the best programs in the nation and I intend to work hard to strengthen that reputation. I can't thank Coach Ianello, Coach (Rick) LaRose or Coach (Andy) Barnes enough for the opportunities here at my alma mater.'
A native of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., Silverstein earned four letters for the Cats, while posting a 74.83 career scoring average. His low round as a collegian was a 69, though he was limited to just two career appearances due to a wrist injury.
An accomplished prep golfer, Silverstein helped Torrey Pines High School to a pair of state titles and was a four-time all-conference selection. He also participated in the 2003 United States Amateur Championship in Oakmont, Pa.
'He is a great addition to our program,' said Ianello. 'Justin brings an incredible amount of energy to our program along with the experience gained last season with our men's program. He has the ability to positively impact all aspects of our program development.'
