Stephen Paea Adds More Preseason Honors

Oregon State University senior defensive tackle Stephen Paea (Pie-uh) continues to add to his preseason honors by being named Monday to the Outland Trophy and Nagurski Award Watch Lists, it was announced by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).
The Outland Trophy is the third-oldest in college football and will be awarded for the 64th time to the nation’s top offensive or defensive tackle. The Nagurski is presented to the top defensive player by the FWAA in conjunction with the Charlotte Touchdown Club. Paea previously was announced as a candidate for the Lombardi Award (top lineman) and the Lott Trophy (on and off the field success). The recipients of the Outland, Nagurski and Lombardi awards will be announced Dec. 9 at the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show in Orlando while the Lott Trophy will be presented Dec. 12 in Newport Beach, Calif.
Paea, a co-team captain, shared the Morris Trophy last season as the Pac-10 Conference’s top defensive lineman and enters the year with 84 career tackles.
Oregon State begins practicing for the 2010 season Aug. 9 and opens the year Sat., Sept. 4 vs. the TCU Horned Frogs at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN at 4:45 p.m. PDT.
