Three Bruins Finish First Round at U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks

Three UCLA golfers were among the top 64 players after the first round of the 34th U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks Championship Monday at The Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame University.
Sophomore Stephanie Kono was one stroke off the lead in a tie for second place. Freshman Tiffany Lua posted a score of 73 (+1) and sophomore Brianna Do carded a score of 75 (+4) and was tied for 53rd.
Kono made five birdies and a bogey in the first round and trailed former U.S. Amateur champ Kimberly Kim by a stroke entering the second and final round of stroke play.
Lua was tied for 22nd, six shots behind after making three birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey at the par 4 15th.
Do recorded two birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey.
The top 64 players advance to match play following Tuesday's second round of stroke play.
