June 22, 2010
BREMERTON, Wash. -- Huskies Chris Williams and Darren Wallace each punched their ticket to the 2010 U.S. Public Links Amateur Championships on Monday by finishing one-two at a qualifying tournament held at Bremerton's Gold Mountain Golf Complex on Monday.
Williams, who just completed his freshman season at Washington, shot rounds of 69 and 67 on the Olympic Course to finish 8-under 136 overall. He was six strokes better than Wallace, who just wrapped up his senior season with the Huskies. Wallace carded rounds of 72-70.
The duo will join Nick Taylor at Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center in Greensboro, N.C. from July 12-17. Taylor earned exemption to the tournament after finishing runner up at the 2009 U.S Publinx.
Other Husky Notes:
Williams is among five golfers with Husky ties competing at this week's WSGA Men's Amateur Championships in Kingston.
