USC Track & Field Signs Mance To NLI

The USC track and field team has added Josh Mance to its recruiting class for the 2010-11 track and field season it was announced today (June 22) by Trojan Director of Track and Field Ron Allice. He joins Lauren Blackburn, Aaron Brown, Jessica Davis, Loudia Laarman, Jenny Ozorai and Jenna Puterbaugh who had already signed National Letters of Intent with USC.
'Josh is one of the outstanding 400m runners in the county and our objective is to have him develop to his potential during his four years as a Trojan,' said Allice. 'He has a great future and we are fortunate to get him and he will be a great addition to a strong sprint corps that has always been part of USC's history.'
Mance, of Don Lugo HS in Chinco, Calif., won the California State 400m title with a nation's best time of 45.90. He also placed fourth in the 200m dash at the state meet with a wind-aided time of 21.19, after posting a wind-aided PR of 21.18 in the semifinals.
Mance represented the United States at the 2009 IAAF World Youth Games in Italy last July and took the silver medal in the 400m race, finishing second to Kirani James (Grenada) who as a freshman this season at Alabama won the NCAA 400m dash title.
This weekend Mance will be competing at the USTF Junior Championships in Des Moines, Iowa attempting to qualify as a member of the U.S. team which will compete at the World Junior Championships this July in Canada.
