Anderson Fifth at USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Washington State's Jeshua Anderson finished fifth in the men's 400m hurdles final Saturday at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships being held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Anderson, a junior from Woodland Hills, Calif., ran a time of 49.14 seconds. Bershawn Jackson (Nike) won the final with a time of 47.32, and Johnny Dutch (South Carolina) placed second with a personal-record time of 47.63. Michael Tinsley (adidas) was third in 48.72 and Justin Gaymon (Nike) was fourth in a time of 48.85.

Trent Arrivey (senior, Woodinville, Wash.) is slated to high jump in the men's senior/open event Sunday at 10 a.m.

Anderson, 800m runner Anna Layman (junior, Spokane Valley)and javelin thrower Marissa Tschida (junior, Missoula, Mont.) have been selected to represent Team USA at the NACAC (North American, Central American, Caribbean) Under-23 Championships in Miramar, Fla., July 9-11. Anderson will compete in the 400m hurdles and be among the pool athletes for the men's 4x400m relay.
