Odds & Ends... California produced a 13-5 record in league play to capture its first league title since 1960. It tied for the fewest wins by a Pac-10 champion, matching 1985 co-champions Washington and USC who also posted 13-5 records... Washington State, at 6-12 in Pac-10 play, produced the most wins ever by a last place team in league play... Sophomores dominated Pac-10 rosters this year with 52, followed by the freshman class with 49. There were only 26 seniors and 25 juniors.
ARIZONA: Freshman F Derrick Williams led all freshmen, and was among the league's top-10, in scoring (15.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 rpg). He was the only Pac-10 freshman to be named All-Pac-10.. All-Pac-10 senior G Nic Wise finished his career 25th on UA's career scoring list (1,285 points)... Four of the top seven scorers were freshmen... ARIZONA STATE: Won 20 games for the third consecutive season for the first time since JFK was President... The second-place finish in Pac-10 play is its highest placing in the league since 1981... Coach Herb Sendek earned Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors. He was just the second ASU coach to be honored by his peers, joining Ned Wulk (1980)... Senior G Derek Glasser set the ASU career record for games played (131), career assists (551) and career free throw percentage (.839)... Defense ranked eighth in the nation (58.78 ppg)... Return three starters for 2010-11 (Kuksiks, Abbott, McMillan).
CALIFORNIA: Captured first league title since 1960 and made its 16th NCAA Tournament appearance... Senior G Jerome Randle, the Pac-10 Player of the Year, set a Cal career record with 1,835 points and a school-record 252 three-pointers. He was second in the nation in free throw percentage (.933)... Senior G Patrick Christopher finished his career third on Cal's career scoring list (1,700 points)... Senior class accounted for 77.3 percent of the scoring... Return one starter for 2010-11 (Gutierrez).
OREGON: Senior G Tajuan Porter set a Pac-10 career record with 345 three-pointers. His 1,835 career points rank fifth all-time at Oregon... Sophomore G Malcolm Armstead set a Oregon single-season record with 65 steals... Coach Ernie Kent's contract was not renewed for the 2010-11 season and leaves Oregon as the school's all-time wins leader (235-173 in 13 seasons)... Return four starters for 2010-11 (Armstead, Dunigan, Longmire, Singler).
OREGON STATE: The defense collected 261 steals. That's the most thefts in a season by OSU since 1990 (270). Senior G/F Seth Tarver, the Pac-10's Defensive Player of the Year, led the league with 2.2 steals per game. His 70 swipes this year were sixth most in a season for the Beavers. With a 8-10 league record, OSU has posted seven or more wins in league play in back-to-back years for the first time since 1992-93... Return two starters for 2010-11 (Cunningham, Haynes).
STANFORD: Senior F Landry Fields is the first Cardinal to lead the league in scoring since Casey Jacobsen in 2002. Fields scored 704 points this season to average 22.0 ppg. Only one other Cardinal has scored more points in a season - Adam Keefe with 734 points in 1992 and 709 points in 1991. Sophomore G Jeremy Green set a Stanford single-season record wiht 93 three-pointers... Return four starters for 2010-11 (Green, Mann, Trotter, Zimmerman).
UCLA: Freshman F Tyler Honeycutt led the Bruins in rebounding (6.5 rpg). He's the third freshman in five years to lead UCLA on the boards, joining Richard Mbah a Moute (8.2 rpg in 2006) and Kevin Love (10.6 rpg in 2008)... All-Pac-10 senior G Michael Roll finished his career with 209 three-pointers, tied for second all-time at UCLA... Return three starters (Lee, Honeycutt, Nelson).
USC: Led the Pac-10 in scoring defense (57.2 ppg). It was the first time ever that USC led the league in that category. The Trojans also led the conference in defensive field goal percentage (.384)... Sophomore F Nikola Vucevic, the Pac-10 Most Improved Player of the Year, led the Pac-10 in rebounding (9.4 rpg) and added 10.7 points per game in 32.3 minutes per game. A grea ago, he posted 2.6 ppg/2.7 rpg in an average of 11.0 minutes per game... Return two starters for 2010-11 (Stepheson, Vucevic).
WASHINGTON: Won its second Pac-10 Tournament crown. Made its first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance since 2006... All-Pac-10 senior G/F Quincy Pondexter finished second on the school's career scoring list with 1,787 points. Pondexter became the first player in Pac-10 history to earn five Pac-10 Player of the Week honors in one season... Sophomore G Isaiah Thomas has scored 1,134 points in just two seasons. It's the hightest total ever by a Husky in his first two seasons... Return four starters for 2010-11 (Bryan-Amaning, Gaddy, Holiday, Thomas).
WASHINGTON STATE: Sophomore G Klay Thompson averaged 19.6 points this season, the most by a Cougar since Isaac Fontaine averaged 21.9 ppg in 1997... Sophomore F DeAngelo Casto led the Pac-10 in blocks (2.2 bpg). His 67 blocks set a sophomore school mark and are the most in a season by a Cougar since 1980... Return five starters for 2010-11 (Capers, Casto, Lodwick, Moore, Thompson).
