UCLA and Stanford Ranked in NSCAA Poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA and Stanford received their second national rankings of the 2010 season Tuesday, when the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its preseason poll. UCLA, the 2009 Pac-10 Champion, was tabbed No. 5, while STANFORD holds the No. 13 ranking.

The Bruins finished last season with a 12-4-4 record and an NCAA quarterfinal appearance. They will face three other teams appearing in the NSCAA rankings - No. 8 UC Santa Barbara, Stanford and No. 20 Indiana. The Bruins kick off play against Notre Dame on September 3 at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in Bloomington, Ind.

Stanford, third in the Pac-10 in 2009, completed the season with a 12-6-2 overall record and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinal will see No. 10 Harvard in addition to UCLA this season. Stanford begins play September 1 against Vermont in Burlington, Vt.

In the College Soccer News 2010 Preseason Top 30 national poll, UCLA was ranked No. 8, with Stanford at No. 14.
