15 Pac-10 Football Players Named Rivals.com Preseason All-Americans
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Fifteen Pac-10 football players representing eight schools have been named to the Rivals.com preseason All-America team, the most of any conference in the country.
OREGON STATE and UCLA each had three selections, ARIZONA, OREGON and USC had two picks each and ARIZONA STATE, CALIFORNIA and STANFORD had one.
The selections include UCLA senior kicker Kai Forbath, a 2009 consensus All-American and Lou Groza Award winner as the top placekicker in the country, and two strong running backs in Oregon sophomore LaMichael James and Oregon State junior Jacquizz Rodgers. Stanford junior wide receiver and kick returner Chris Owusu, who set a Pac-10 record for kickoffs returned for touchdowns in 2009, was named the kick returner for the first team. The Pac-10 also boasted two of the three centers picked, as Arizona senior Colin Baxter and USC senior Kristopher O'Dowd were named to the second and third teams, respectively. The Conference was also well-represented on the defensive side, with four linebackers, one safety and one cornerback earning selections.
Joining Forbath and Owusu on the first team were USC junior tackle Jurrell Casey, Oregon State senior tackle Stephen Paea and UCLA junior free safety Rahim Moore.
The Conference had five players named to the second team in Arizona's Baxter, Oregon's James, Arizona State sophomore linebacker Vontaze Burfict and Arizona junior cornerback Trevin Wade.
Five players were also named to the third team, with Oregon State's Rodgers and USC's O'Dowd highlighting the offense and UCLA junior linebacker Akeem Ayers, Oregon senior linebacker Casey Matthews and California senior linebacker Mike Mohamed representing the defensive squad.
