TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 24 Arizona Volleyball swept Cal State Bakersfield Saturday afternoon in McKale Center to run its winning streak to four consecutive matches. Set scores were: 25-13, 25-18, 25-16.
Reaves Makes More History in Final Day ASU Sheraton Classic
TEMPE, Ariz. - Sarah Reaves added another career accolade Saturday as she moved to sixth-place in ASU career kills records with 13 kills to push her to 1,382 while ASU wrapped their first home tournament taking on the Utah State Aggies for a shot at the tournament crown. It wasn't to be though as the undefeated Aggies remained as such sweeping ASU in a 25-18, 25-22 and 25-17.
No. 11 California Sweeps No. 25 San Diego
SAN DIEGO - The No. 11-ranked California volleyball team (4-0) defeated No. 25 San Diego (2-3) in three sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-23) to grab its fourth straight victory in the 2010 USD Tournament at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 4. The Golden Bears were led to their 12th consecutive set win by junior outside hitter Tarah Murrey, who had a match-high 17 kills (4e, 39att, .333) while adding four digs.
Oregon State Falls in Close Four-Set Match to No. 19 Michigan
Corvallis, Ore. - Sophomore Megan McBride (Auburn, Wash.) had her second double-double of the day with 13 kills and 37 assists, but the Oregon State volleyball team (3-4) fell in four to No. 19 Michigan (5-1) on Saturday evening in set scores of 24-26, 25-19, 33-35, 24-26 in the final match of the Active Ankle Challenge.
Oregon State Upends UNLV
Corvallis, Ore. - Senior Jill Sawatzky (St. Andrews, Manitoba), sophomore Camille Saxton (Balzac, Alberta) and freshman Mona Kressl (Langenzenn, Germany) combined for 42 of the Oregon State volleyball team's 62 kills in Saturday afternoon's four-set win over UNLV (1-4).
No. 3 Stanford Puts Away Marquette In Four
STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 3 Stanford women's volleyball team defeated Marquette, 25-16, 17-25, 25-18, 25-14, in the final match of the Stanford Invitational, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal remains perfect with a 5-0 reocrd on the season, while the Golden Eagles drop to 3-2.
14th-Ranked Bruins Too Much for UC Riverside in Sweep
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Senior Dicey McGraw paced the Bruins with 11 kills, while sophomore Mari Hole added seven kills and nine digs in just two sets, as the 14th-ranked Bruins swept UC Riverside on Saturday at the SJSU/SMC Tournament at Spartan Gym.
