Jupiter Voted Pac-10 Women's Volleyball Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - USC's Alex Jupiter was named Pac-10 Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 30 - Sept. 5, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. Jupiter helped the then-No. 10 Women of Troy go 3-0 at the Wahine Classic over the weekend and claim the tournament title.
A 6-3 outside hitter, Alex Jupiter (Paris, France) was named Most Valuable Player of the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Classic, averaging 4.45 kills per game and 0.91 blocks per game with a .300 hitting percentage and four aces. Included in the three wins in Honolulu, Jupiter tallied 22 kills and 16 digs in the five-set upset of then-No. 4 Hawai'i (23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 18-25, 15-7) in front of a crowd of nearly 8,000 fans. Jupiter also led USC to three-set victories over New Mexico and Michigan State to open the tournament in Hawai'i.
Jupiter earns Pac-10 Player of the Week for the first time in her career, and it is the the 45th for USC all-time.
The Trojans play just one match this week, hosting Virginia on Friday, Sept. 10 at Galen Center.
