WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA senior defender A.J. Soares was named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the Week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

The Solana Beach, Calif., native was named Defensive Most Valuable Player of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic after leading a stingy Cal defense that allowed just one goal in two double-overtime games against No. 20/21 Indiana and No. 18 Notre Dame.
