WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--WIde receiver Jermaine Kearse of WASHINGTON, cornerback Mike Thomas of STANFORD and punter Jackson Rice of OREGON have been named Pac-10 Players of the Week in football.

Kearse, a junior from Lakewood, Wash., set career highs for receptions (9), yards (179) and touchdowns (3) in a 41-20 win over Syracuse. Kearse caught touchdown passes of 5, 57 and 28 yards (three straight Washington touchdowns) after the Huskies had trailed 10-6. Kearse leads the Pac-10 in receptions (14) and receiving yards (143.5 ypg).

Thomas, a junior from Houston, Texas, had five total tackles and two forced fumbles in the 35-0 win at UCLA, including one he returned 21 yards for a touchdown. He forced a fumble at the 8:45 mark of the second quarter that eventually led to a Stanford field goal, then stripped the ball and returned it 21 yards for a touchdown with 0:34 left in the third quarter. HIs efforts helped Stanford to its first road shutout since 1974 and its first shutout victory over UCLA since 1941.

Rice, a sophomore from Moraga, Calif., was instrumental in Oregon's 48-13 win at Tennessee as he kept the Volunteers pinned back in their own territory with four punts (41.8 yards per kick) - all landed inside the 20-yard line, two at the 6-yard line. Only one of his four kicks was returned and that was for no gain.
