Six different Pac-10 teams are ranked in the AP or coaches poll ... Four games feature matchups against Top 25 opponents, with three of those contests hosted by Pac-10 teams. ARIZONA STATE hits the road vs. No. 11/11 Wisconsin, while WASHINGTON hosts No. 8/8 Nebraska, UCLA hosts No. 23/23 Houston, and No. 24/18 ARIZONA entertains No. 9/10 Iowa ... Statistically speaking, five Pac-10 teams are ranked among the top 17 in the nation by averaging better than 43 points per game. No. 5/6 OREGON ranks second, averaging 60.0 ppg. On the defensive side, four teams are ranked among the top 10 in scoring defense. Arizona ranks second, allowing just 4.0 ppg.

Checking the active rosters for the opening weekend of the NFL season and you will find 14 former Pac-10 quarterbacks - that's the most of any conference. The breakdown of the BCS conferences is as follows: Pac-10 (14), BIg Ten (11), SEC (10), Big 12 (9, ACC (7), BIg East (5) ... Sure, it's the third week of the football season, but basketball season is just around the corner. Pac-10 Basketball Media Day is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 28 at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles ... In Pac-10 women's volleyball last week, No. 2 Stanford swept No. 1 Penn State in three sets, ending the Nittany Lions winning streak at 109 matches.
