Stanford Scores Nine Goals in Rout
STANFORD, Calif. - Lindsay Taylor and Christen Press scored two goals each to spark Stanford's 9-0 rout of Hawaii in nonconference women's soccer action Thursday night. It was the most goals scored in a match by the Cardinal since a 10-0 victory over USC in 1993 and was the biggest defeat in Hawaii history.
No. 16 Cal Scores First But Lose 3-1 to No. 3 Portland
BERKELEY - The No. 16 California women's soccer team earned itself a 1-0 halftime lead thanks to a goal from sophomore forward Lauren Battung, but could not hold on against No. 3 Portland. The Pilots (10-0-0) scored three second-half goals to take the nonconference decision at, 3-1, over the Golden Bears (5-1-3) on Thursday afternoon at Edwards Stadium.
