Washington's LaFontaine-Kussmann Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- WASHINGTON junior goalkeeper Jorde LaFontaine-Kussmann was named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 5-11, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
LaFontaine-Kussmann was a stalwart in goal for the Huskies over the weekend, tallying eight saves and two wins in the opening weekend of Pac-10 play. On Friday against Arizona, the Lakewood, Wash., native made one save in a 4-1 victory. On Sunday against then-No. 25 Arizona State, LaFontaine-Kussmann earned her third shutout of the season in the 1-0 victory, making seven saves against a high-powered ASU offense.
LaFontaine-Kussmann is now 5-3-1 on the season and ranks fourth in the Conference with a 0.88 goals against average. For her efforts this weekend, she was also named gohuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
This is LaFontaine-Kussmann's first-career honor and the 16th all-time for Washington.
Next up for LaFontaine-Kussmann and the Huskies is a trip to the Bay Area, where they will face California on Friday and Stanford on Sunday.
