Owens Voted Pac-10 Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA’s Tiffany Owens was named Pac-10 Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 4-10, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The senior outside hitter led the No. 25 Wildcats to back-to-back wins over Oregon State and Oregon on the road, setting career highs in both matches.

The San Bernardino, Calif., native led Arizona’s five-set comeback against the Beavers by recording a career-best 32 kills on .426 hitting while adding 20 digs. Her performance ranks ninth on the all-time single-match kills list in school history. The next evening, Owens led the Wildcats again in the upset of then-No. 13 Oregon. Arizona found itself down 2-1 against the Ducks, but rallied to record its first road sweep and first win over a ranked team this season. Owens led the team with 23 kills while also setting a career high with 26 digs as the Wildcats stayed unbeaten on the road at 5-0. Owens has posted 20 or more kills and recorded a double-double in her last three matches.

It is Owen’s third career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and the 28th weekly recognition for Arizona all-time.

The Wildcats return to Tucson to host a pair of ranked teams. Arizona faces No. 10 UCLA on Friday and No. 5 USC on Saturday.
