Klineman Voted Pac-10 Women's Volleyball Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD's Alix Klineman was named Pac-10 Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 11-17, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The senior outside hitter led the No. 2 Cardinal to wins over then-No. 7 WASHINGTON and WASHINGTON STATE this weekend.
The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native averaged 6.71 kills, 2.57 digs and 7.29 points per set and a .511 hitting percentage in the two matches. Against the Huskies on Friday, Klineman posted 32 kills on 60 attempts with just two errors for a .500 attack percentage. Washington entered the weekend leading the conference in opponent hitting percentage, holding other teams to a .112 hitting percentage. With her 13 digs in the match, Klineman registered her seventh double-double of the season and became just the eighth player in Stanford history to record 1,000 career kills and digs. Versus the Cougars on Saturday, Klineman led all players with 15 kills and tallied five digs and a solo block. In conference matches, she leads the league in kills (6.69), points (7.09) and hitting percentage (.419).
It is Klineman's sixth career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor, third of the 2010 season and the 72nd weekly recognition for Stanford all-time.
The Cardinal host rival CALIFORNIA in the Big Spike at Maples Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 22. The winner will claim sole possession of first place in the Pac-10.
