Cal Cruises to 2-0 Win Against Cougars
BERKELEY - It was another scoreless first half of play for the California women's soccer team, this time against Washington State, on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Edwards Stadium. Yet, it was the end result that truly mattered, and the Golden Bears scored twice in the second half to earn a 2-0 victory over the Cougars. Cal evened its Pac-10 Conference record at 2-2-0 and improved to 7-3-4 overall while WSU fell to 6-9-0 and 1-3-0 in the Pac-10.
Stanford Scores Early and Late to Win
STANFORD, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford dominated Washington in shots, and edged the Huskies on the scoreboard, 2-1, in rainy Pacific-10 Conference women's soccer action at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on Sunday.
No. 19 USC Ties Up At Oregon
EUGENE, ORE. - The No. 19 USC women's soccer team had another tough road game on its hands during a visit to Eugene to take on host Oregon in a Pac-10 matchup. The Trojans fell behind in the first half, but would make good on a late penalty kick converted by Ashli Sandoval to force the tie. The 1-1 draw against the Ducks moves USC to an 8-4-3 overall record and a 1-2-1 Pac-10 record, while Oregon goes to 4-7-3, 0-2-1.
Beavers Stun No. 16 UCLA with 3-0 Shutout
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's soccer team took down another top-20 team in No. 16 UCLA Sunday afternoon when they shutout the Bruins, 3-0 to move to 11-1-1 overall this season and 3-0 in Pacific-10 Conference play. It is the first time that the Beavers have started conference play 3-0 since they did it in 1994, the first time they made the NCAA Tournament. It is also the first time in program history that they have beaten USC and UCLA in the same season.
