Scouting The Ducks: Casey Matthews
Oregon / LB
6'2 / 240
40 YD: 4.60
Outstanding athlete. Very good speed, quickness and change of direction. Fluid and flexible in space. Displays one-on-one cover skills vs. running backs and TEs. Highly competitive player who plays hard every snap. Loves the game and is consistent in all phases. Has the speed and athletic skill to be a productive pass rusher.
Needs to add more strength in the upper body. Will miss some tackles he should make because he has a tendency to leave his feet more than he should.
Possesses a lot of the same attributes of older brother Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers. He is a fast and aggressive player who comes to play each and every week. He reads and reacts fast and is always around the ball. He lines up as an inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, but has the ability and athletic skill to be a force on the outside as well. Shows speed and flexibility dropping in to coverage. Very versatile performer with outstanding leadership skill. Has a bright NFL future in front of him.
