WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA's Lainey Gera was named Pac-10 Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 8-14, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The junior libero tied a school record for digs in a three-set match with 28 against Arizona State on Friday and followed that up with 27 more digs against then-No. 20 Arizona on Saturday to average 7.86 digs per set in a pair of Bruin victories.

The San Jose, Calif., native was digging everything against the Sun Devils, recording 28 of UCLA's 57 digs in the match. Gera posted eight digs in the first set and 10 apiece in the second and third. Her 28 digs equaled the school record set by Chrissie Zartman in 2004. In the 3-1 win over the Wildcats on Saturday, Gera notched her 24th career match and ninth this season with 20-plus digs. She tallied nine of the Bruins' 20 digs in the opening set, then had just nine for the second and third combined as Arizona avoided hitting her way before registering nine more in the fourth set.

It is Gera's first-career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and the 55th weekly recognition for UCLA all-time.

The No. 10 Bruins hit the road for matches with No. 23 Oregon on Friday and Oregon State on Sunday.
