STANFORD, Calif. - Goals by Marjani Hing-Glover and Alina Garciamendez were enough to allow No. 1 Stanford to withstand a late Santa Clara rally in a 2-1 NCAA second-round women's soccer playoff on Sunday.
USC Falls To Notre Dame In NCAA Second Round
SOUTH BEND, IND. - The USC women's soccer team came up against a tough host on a chilly and windy day for the Trojans' NCAA Second Round battle today in South Bend, Ind. With the wind at its back to start, No. 4 seeded Notre Dame got back-to-back goals early in the match, and went on to claim a 4-0 win over the visiting Women of Troy. The loss wraps up USC's 2010 season with a 13-6-3 overall record in the Trojans' sixth straight postseason appearance, including a 2007 championship run to USC's first-ever NCAA title.
Huskies Upset No. 2 Portland In Shootout
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Huskies pulled one of the biggest upsets in school history and in this season's NCAA Tournament by defeating the No. 2 overall seed Portland 10-9 in penalty kicks after a 1-1 tie in regulation and two overtime periods in the Second Round Sunday afternoon at Merlo Field.
Women's Soccer Falls in Heartbreaker to Oklahoma State, 2-1
STILLWATER, Okla. - The No. 15 Oregon State women's soccer team fell to No. 6 Oklahoma State Sunday by a final score of 2-1 at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater, Okla. in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Sophomore Chelsea Buckland gave the Beavers a 1-0 lead at the half but two second half Cowgirl goals were too much for the Beavers.
