Four Pac-10 Men's Soccer Players Named 2010 NSCAA All-Americans

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Four Pac-10 men's soccer players were named 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Performance Subaru Men's NCAA Division I All-Americans, the NSCAA announced Friday. The Conference placed one player each on the first and second teams and two on the third team. CALIFORNIA led the way with three honorees while UCLA garnered one selection.

Cal senior defender A.J. Soares, the 2010 Pac-10 Player of the Year, earned first team honors. The Solana Beach, Calif., native led a stingy defense that allowed just 17 goals and posted eight shutouts this season. A MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, Soares was also a key contributor for the Golden Bears on offense, posting career highs in points (11) and goals (5).

Junior goalkeeper David Bingham, who played every minute in goal for Cal this season, was a second team selection for his outstanding performance in the nets. The Pleasanton, Calif., native posted a 0.77 goals against average and an .884 save percentage while playing 1,978 minutes for the Bears. His save percentage ranked third in the nation this season.

Cal senior forward Davis Paul was the final Bear to earn All-America honors, placing on the third team. The Upland, Calif., native set the Cal single-season assist record with 14 to finish fourth nationally. Paul ranks fourth on the school's career assist list with 21. He scored 30 points in his final season, best in the Pac-10, leading the Bears with career highs in goals (8), assists, points and game-winning goals (5).

UCLA freshman midfielder Kelyn Rowe was one of two freshmen on the All-America teams, earning a third team selection. The Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, Rowe led the Bruins in assists (10) and ranked second on the squad in points (24) and goals (7). The Federal Way, Wash., native was recently named to the U.S. Under-20 National Team.

Both Cal and UCLA completed their seasons in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. All four players were members of the 2010 All-Pac-10 First Team.

All players will be honored at the annual All-America Luncheon, to be held at the Hilton Baltimore Hotel on Saturday, Jan. 15, as part of the 2011 NSCAA Convention.
