Spotlight: Cal's Sylvie Monnet

The only All-American in Cal women's volleyball history for 20 years and still one of the few All-Americans in program history, Sylvie Monnet played for the Bears from 1980-83...she was selected as a first team All-American in 1981 and was chosen to the honorable mention squad in 1982 and to the second team in 1983...a two-time Academic All-American (1982-83), Monnet was voted to the All-NorCal Conference team in 1980 and 1981 and to the All-NorPac Conference team in 1982 and 1983, she was also chosen the NorPac Player of the in Cal record books for service aces (62) and blocks (216) in a season...her .293 hitting percentage in 1983 is also the second-best in school history but unfortunately, statistics were not kept before the 1983 season, so she does not appear among the career leaders.
