Bears Thrash Roadrunners, 14-1
TEMPE, Ariz. -The California softball team began its 2011 season in quite dramatic fashion - with a 14-1 conquering of Cal State Bakersfield on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Jolene Henderson earned the win with four innings of work, allowing just one hit. On the other side of the ball, it was Henderson again who led the way with six RBI off a grand slam and a two-run homer to push the Golden Bears (1-0) over the Roadrunners (0-1).

Cardinal Opens Season 2-0 at Kajikawa Classic
TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 18th-ranked Stanford softball team opened the season with a 9-0 shutout in five innings over Cal State Northridge, and then defeated North Texas, 5-2, Friday at the Tempe Sports Complex in the Kajikawa Classic.

No. 10/11 Huskies Break Records In DH Sweep
LAS VEGAS - Opening day couldn't have been any sweeter for the No. 10/11 Husky softball team (2-0) at the SportCo Kickoff Classic Friday morning as the Huskies won both games in five innings at Eller Media Stadium. Washington defeated Illinois-Chicago (1-1) for the eighth-straight time, 8-0 and then in the first-ever meeting with UC Riverside (0-1), defeated the Highlanders 23-4.

#1 UCLA Opens Season With Pair of Shutouts
LOS ANGELES - In Friday's first contest, senior Donna Kerr tossed a no-hitter and was given 19 runs of support in a victory over Utah State, while freshman Jessica Hall blanked North Dakota State 7-0 in the nightcap, also finishing the evening with a pair of homers at the plate during the first day of the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament at Easton Stadium.

Moore Routs Rebels in 4-1 Win
TEMPE, Ariz. - Thanks to another pitching gem by sophomore Jessica Moore, the No. 14 University of Oregon softball team (3-0) remained unbeaten with a 4-1 win over Ole Miss to close second-day action in the Kajikawa Classic Friday evening.

Hall is Perfect in Beavers win over Western Michigan
TEMPE, Ariz. - Junior pitcher Paige Hall threw a perfect game as the Oregon State softball team takes down Western Michigan, 8-0 in six innings Friday afternoon at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.

Softball Sweeps Doubleheader
TEMPE, Ariz. - University of Arizona Wildcat softball improved to 3-0 with a sweep of a doubleheader Friday night. The Wildcats hit five homeruns while giving up only four total runs on the day. Arizona beat Utah 8-3 and was victorious over Nebraska by a final score of 6-1.

Dallas Escobedo Brings In Two Wins for No. 10 Softball Friday Night
TEMPE, Ariz. - Freshman pitcher Dallas Escobedo was lights out Friday night as the second day of the Kajikawa Classic rolled on which saw the freshman collect two wins with a 6-5 (8) victory over Cal Poly as well as complete-game shutout with 11 strikeouts in a 1-0 win against No. 11 Oklahoma State. Escbedo and the Sun Devils move to 3-0 on the season with the win.
